Alrighty, since we don't have a DF chat room yet, I figured it would be cool to start a Power Stroke chat thread where we, Ford members, can all bs about WHATEVER is on our minds. Just remember folks, KEEP THE CHAT WITHIN DIESEL FORUMS COC.

This chat room is open to ALL members, just be aware that this is a dedicated Power Stroke chat room. Razzing between brands is bound to happen, just keep it friendly and come with thick skin.

With that being said, I will start.

Gregg, hurry up and get back here so I can let you hear how much better a single 6" stack on a 6.0 sounds compared to your old ass 7.3 and puny lil 5" duals.:Na_Na_Na_Na:

Powerstroke Issues

Hello all,
I was wondering if anyone has experienced the issue I have been dealing with. When I start the truck and drive it she runs fine. The minute I shut the truck off and start it again the truck runs like complete junk. Black smoke blows out the exhaust, the truck has absolutely no power and studders. Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

How long between (shut if off and start it again?) Black smoke is wrong fuel air mix. Maybe sticky turbo or sticky injector.

Go right into it! you have the floor anytime you like.

There is very little information about fuel additive. I have tried a battery of additives and have found any additive is better then no additive. But right now it's Liquid MPG at the top, with Power Services, and Lucas following. RevX does well with 6.0l (I don't own one) But not so well with my 7.3l. I'm currently using RBP tow stage fuel additives, simply because I met with them at SEMA and they gave me it to me and asked me to try it. Prolong is sending me some additive as well. So I'm still trying out various kinds and I'm leaning towards Liquid MPG till proven otherwise. All of my trials have been just that, trials. No science at all. I'm going by experience of the vehicle performance and fuel economy. However; this form of testing can be harmful to my truck without knowing what the additive is and what it might be doing. So you information will be most welcome!

I all so try to stay clear of Cetane enhancers, I don't need to create any more heat then I need to.

Fuel???

As far as what I pay is 20.00 plus shipping and I get a good battery of tests. We can go into it if you like. Predictive Maintence - Urichville, Ohio

Does any one in here talk about fuel? The new ultra low sulphur diesel? Additives?
Lubricants?
Service Intervals?
DEF?
Filters?
ETC.
I have a lot of knowledge in those areas including oil analysis.
Oil analysis is the lab checking you old oil to see what is in there.
Dirt, High wear metals, Gycol, oxidize the oil, acids etc.

Do you Howes is OK for my 7.3s injectors?

We'll done. I actually get my oil analysis for $13.00 Where are you going for your analysis?

How do you know you are changing your oil enough????

Oil analysis!

Oil analysis costs usually approx 25 to 35 bucks. Pull a lot? Sample your oil!!!!!

I know some fleets using fuel usage to determine when to change oil.

Best to test. If anyone wants info I can suggest a lab to send your oil too. Usually e-mail results within 7 days including shipping.

I have worked with Fleets and small businesses getting their maintenance costs in line.

Fuel!
Let's talk about something we all need to know!
How do you know you are getting "Good" fuel????
How do you know when it's cold if you should just go back in the house or try to crank up that cold diesel????
Answer - Sample your fuel! More specific.....Put a clear plastic bottle in your cab. Make sure your diesel nozzles will fit into the bottle. When you are filling the tank fill it about 1/2 way and then pull out of the tank and just put a few oz. in the bottle. Why???
If the fuel is dirty? Stop fueling, get your receipt and look for the manager!
If it's clean and clear you know what is in your tank. Next morning when it's 20 below, you walk outside open your rear door and look at your bottle. Turn it upside down. If it doesn't flow, go back inside! You don't want to start that diesel. Damage can result. If it's cloudy and does flow then go ahead. Crank her up.
Also watch your filters. I never see dirty filters unless I get a bad load of fuel.

Get an SCT and custom tunes. I run the SRL from Matt at Gearhead Automotive and love the tune. Since you are studded, you could safely run the SRL++.

I hear ya, so do I. It would make a perfect project/competition truck. It would even make a great trail rig where you didn't care if you smashed the body up wheelin,

Ehhh.... but you should seriously try to get in touch with him and see what he has that will benefit your rig.
