So I am just about to purchase a 2012 Laramie Longhorn. This truck is freaking amazing to drive and I am anxious to tart decking it out with options to make it something like a search and rescue truck. I saw online some youtube videos Chevy does to show how their truck is so superior, but it didn't go up against the 2012 3500 crew cab. I can't wait to see what kind of power and strengthening I can get into this truck and just take it on a long haul across the country to New York with a 14000lb toy hauler. and drive it up in the mountains. I would love to see people's faces as I drive this beast on the highways as it is a pretty darn good looking truck and I can't wait to show the thing off.

Chevy doesn't make trucks, they just make cars with big trunks :Na_Na_Na_Na: (quoting Don Garlits from a road test TV show he had). Seriously though, while I haven't driven a new truck 'cause I won't be buying one, I'm quite sure you'll be excited about your new one for a very long time -- I still think of mine as "my new truck". I only pay cash for vehicles & I keep 'em until they can't be fixed anymore. With that in mind, in 1998 I had enough $$$ to order a Dodge / Cummins diesel 2500HD 4x4 & when my lady friend asked how I could justify spending so much on a new truck I said that's simple -- 20 years from now I'll still be driving it (my last truck lasted 20). Well, it's been 14 so far & you couldn't get me to sell my Dodge with a gun to my head !!

Personally I like the looks of the "2nd generation" Dodges best, but of course the main factor in my choice (I like Fords too) was the Cummins engine -- I only wish I knew then what I know now about the blankety-blank injector pump they used from 1998 1/2 thru 2001. But that's fixed now & the truck will do just exactly what I ordered it for, including towing heavy trailers where there aren't any roads. And carry 5200 lbs. of concrete test cylinders  Now that the bigger engine is out your new one should do even better. Enjoy!
