I have a 1979 Ford F-600. It currently has a gas 370 motor with an automatic transmission. I would like to convert it over to diesel, a couple of diesel motors that came in this truck were a cummins or catapiller. Does anyone have any knowledge of what it would take to do this project?

It is definitely going to be an ambitious project.
I know a guy that converted a 1957 B61 series MACK from gas to diesel.
He thought it throw and felt the best way to tackle it was to buy a retired diesel powered school bus.
He restored the Mack and dropped it onto the shortened International bus chassis and adapted the gauge cluster and electronics to the Mack cab.
1 year project.

It's not going to be easy. But if you find the right beat up or wreaked truck of the same or maybe even a later model with the power-plant your looking for. this should make things a bit easier. But only a bit. Nothing is ever easy! At least for me.
