Front end clunk

1309 Views 4 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  97cummins
I have a 97 F350 and my pinion bearing just went bad so I replaced all the bearing and seals in my axel. Also replaced ball joint, u-joints and multiple other bearings that came in a kit to rebuild my front end. I had a clunk in my front end when I would turn. After all this its still there? It mostly happens when I turn and also hit a bump. What could this be?

Welcome to Diesel Forums
Welcome.
It could mean improper installation. Or another part went bad. IDK.
does yours have the TTB front end or the solid axle? also this may sound stupid... check your shock mounts on the axle and the frame...
You should also check the steer axle rear shackles. On the big trucks i work on i've noticed sometimes a clunk could be caused by worn or loose rear shackles.
